MindSpark #30: The AI Discovery
This week, we are making a big shift.
We are moving from assuming AI is just "out there" to noticing exactly where it lives in our daily lives.
Our Wednesday newsletter showed that many schools are still working on AI guidelines. That means your home is the most important place for these talks. Instead of a boring “do this”, “don’t do that” talk, we are turning this into a journey of discovery.
How It Works
Start Here
💠 At the end of the day, spend 10 to 15 minutes talking.
💠 Ask everyone: "Where did AI show up in your day today: even in small ways?"
💠 Pause and let them think.
Look for Clues
If your kids are not sure, give them some hints.
💠 Look at schoolwork
💠 Searching for information,
💠 YouTube or TikTok recommendations, and
💠 Brainstorming or studying.
Look for anything that felt easier or faster.
Model the Way
You should go too.
Tell them where you used AI at work or while planning your day.
Make It Real
Once you have found some moments, ask: "Did that help you think more: or think less?"
No judgment is needed. Just aim for awareness.
Go One Step Deeper
Now shift to ownership. Ask: "If that moment happened again tomorrow, would you use AI the same way: or differently?"
This is where the real learning happens.
Why It Works
💠Builds Awareness: Most families just react to technology after the fact. This habit helps you stop and see what is actually happening.
💠Shifts to Ownership: When you notice a tool, you can decide if you want to use it again. This is how you move from reacting to deciding.
💠Focuses on Growth: This moves the focus away from just getting homework done. It focuses on how the work is getting done.
💠Creates a Shared Plan: These small talks are how your FAMILY AI GAME PLAN™ starts to take shape. It is built on real life and shared understanding.
Parent Tip
Try this 2 to 3 times over the next few weeks. Keep it light and keep it consistent.
You are not trying to control every moment. You are building awareness that leads to better choices.
The goal is not to catch your child doing something wrong.
The goal is to help them notice when a tool is helping them grow and when it is taking over their thinking.
Family Extra
Are we paying attention to AI in our daily life: or just letting it happen?
Reply and share your family's biggest AI discovery from this week. We would love to hear what you found!
